Rockfon products are carefully packed during manufacture in order to protect them in the best possible way. However, it is important that subsequent transportation and storage is done in such a way so as to maintain the products in good condition.
 
Transportation
During transportation, the products should be stacked so that they stand firmly and cannot be exposed to blows from other cargo.
 
Storage
Rockfon products should be stored so that they are not exposed to the weather. The floor surface should be dry, smooth and firm, and they should be placed so that they are not exposed to blows, or any other mechanical damage. Heavy or sharp objects should not be placed on top of the packed products.
 
Handling
Individual cartons should be handled with care and should not be dropped. To open a carton , the plastic foil should be cut without damaging the tiles. The foil and remainder of the carton should be removed. Using two hands, lift the tiles vertically and install.  The use of clean white gloves is recommended during tile handling and installation. Individual tiles should be placed in an upright position against a solid surface. 
 
Cutting
The cutting of Rockfon products at walls and service penetrations can be easily done using a sharp knive. To maintain the appearance of a cut edge, visible cut edges should be treated with the appropriate Rockfon edge paint.
 
Refinishing treatment
Normally Rockfon ceilings do not require any form of refinishing.
 
Painting
Most Rockfon acoustic ceilings can be treated with Rockfon finishing paint. This can be applied with an airless spray.

The surface of the tiles should be clean and dry. The existing paint surface should be firmly adhered to the tile prior to refinishing. Heavily discoloured tiles should be replaced. Typically, the refinishing of Rockfon products reduces the sound absorption by approximately 10%. It is recommended to treat one tile and let it dry, before treating the entire ceiling.
