Social distance running

May 27, 2020

Last year Rockfon Germany kicked off a 16-kilometre run in Antwerp, Belgium with some of its business partners and customers. A successful event, Rockfon Germany was looking to recreate the same success with another run in Hamburg, which was originally planned for April.

Together – but apart

Wanting to continue the tradition of running with their business partners, Rockfon Germany was very excited to host another customer event at the Haspa Marathon in Hamburg in April, which has been taking place since 1986. However, because of the COVID-19 lockdown, the marathon was postponed until September 2020.

Due to the overwhelming motivation of everyone involved, it was decided to continue with the run, but while respecting the social distancing measures set by the government to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

#runwithme

Using technology, Rockfon Germany was able to host the customer event. It was decided that everyone would run the distance that he or she wanted to do at the Haspa Marathon in Germany – but instead of running it at the marathon, they would run around their neighbourhood on the same day the event was supposed to be held.

A total of 1004 kilometres were run that day between 64 runners. “This was a great and unique experience for everyone involved that allowed us to connect with each other” says Daniel Mundus, Marketing Manager for Germany. “Over 100 pictures and videos were shared before, during and after the run in our WhatsApp group. All the participants cheered each other along, motivating them to reach their goal. There was a great sense of community” says Daniel Mundus.

Looking ahead

Everyone that was a part of the event is looking forward to running again in April 2021. As planned from the beginning, for every kilometre ran by the participants, Rockfon Germany donated money to the children’s cancer clinic near the German headquarters in Gladbeck.
