Acoustic comfort and environmental conscious

Volkswagen’s new City Studio is the first step onto the new greener vision. Here you can experience the brand’s latest e-models for the future. In the new city studio, you’re welcomed by black acoustic ceilings helping to create an exclusive atmosphere. But not only does the acoustic ceilings create beautiful soundscapes, they’re also fully recyclable and made of abundant and healthy materials.

The German car brand, Volkswagen has the foot on the speed when it comes to the ambitions for the green transition onto their specialty, the future of mobility. The green transition is reflection onto their new showroom in the heart of Copenhagen.

Marketing Manager of Volkswagen Denmark, Martin Orthmann says: “We have been looking forward to welcoming Danes to our new premises, where in addition to experiencing out latest electric models, we can also give them insight into our visions for the electrified mobility of the future. It has been important for us to create an environment that exudes exclusivity and creates the right atmosphere. It's crucial that you as a visitor experience that it’s nice to be here, so you feel like spending a little extra time in business.”

The exclusive atmosphere with the wood-clad walls and the acoustic ceiling tiles from Rockfon Color-all® in a deep black tone makes the cars stand out. The black acoustic ceiling creates beautiful soundscapes as it’s highly sound absorbing making the environment comfortable for both guests and employees.

As a company with sustainability and raw material recycling high on the agenda, Volkswagen opted for Rockfon acoustic ceilings. When the existing white ceiling tiles had to be replaced with the new black ones: “There has been a focus on recycling as much as possible, and therefore, the existing ceiling system has been used in combination.” With the new black ceiling tiles, it gives the room a whole new look. In addition, the decommissioned white Rockfon ceilings has been sent for recycling via our recycling scheme”, explains Nicholai Max Gringer, Project Sales Manager, Rockfon.

Recycling scheme gives new life to obsolete ceilings

The recycling scheme has taken care of the used stone wool ceilings. They have been returned to production where they are transformed into new products. This procedure enables Rockfon to minimise the waste and gives the new owners a big smile on their faces. “To help sustainability on its way into our showroom, we chose to make us of Rockfon’s recycling scheme so that the “old” ceilings can be given new life somewhere else. This is an important key stone for Volkswagen to contribute with what we can now, big and small, even if it’s not just about cars”, say Martin Orthmann Thorsen

Project Manager, Niels Fæster from Multiwork who managed the transformation of the new premises, concludes: “On this project, we have benefited from the sparring and capacity that Rockfon has offered They as supplier have had #they have just the right weight to lift the tasks. Not only have the recommended the recycling scheme, but they have also provided ceilings in special sizes and with a delivery time that made suited the planned process, so that Volkswagen City Studio can now work and welcome guests into their new framework.”
